Quick Take: Pietro’s Prime, an upscale steak house operated by the owners of longtime Chester County market Giunta’s, is now open in the former Murray’s Deli space in West Chester.
Went to Pietro’s for lunch, and it was ok. The space itself is gorgeous (though they owe much of this to Murray’s), with the bar now where the old deli was and the old bar room converted into a dining area. The food was good, but not great, especially considering the prices. They have an interesting selection of different sandwiches and light entrees including several different steak sandwiches and burgers, shrimp, crab cakes, etc. The service was pleasant but not without flaws, an issue due to the intended atmosphere and prices. All in all, it seems that the owners of Pietro’s have skills better suited to creating a welcoming, casual neighborhood restaurant, but instead are trying to create a fine dining destination… that falls a little short.

I have to say, I don’t eat steak out – My husband puts out such an amazing steak – I’m regularly disappointed if I ever order it out….However, I think he has some competition!
Went to Pietro’s Prime last Saturday night for the first time. It was an excellent experience. The old deli part of Murry’s is now a full beautiful bar which opens the front room to more seating. The tables are pleasantly set with black napkins, beige table clothes and shiny sturdy silverware.
We were promtly seated and had immediate attention from our waitress who was ‘wine’ knowledgeable – what a refreshing change! The wine list is full of diversity – great low price and great high price – something for everyone.
We ordered the crqab cake appetizer ( which can also be a main course) – it was loaded with lump crabmeat and made with a scallop mouse base. Different then your traditional Maryland crabcake but delicious! My husband ordered the spinich salad which was accompanied with a warm bacon dressing, eggs and boiled red potatoes. Very tasty and fresh.
There are a variety of steak choices along with chicken, lamb and shrimp. Veggies are ala carte – 1 serving is enough for 2.
We ordered the filet and ribeye filet – both cooked and seasoned to perfection!
I think as long as the quality of food stays excellent and the prices don’t go up – these folks will have added a much needed traditional steakhouse to the WC choices!

We went to Pietro’s with a party of six for dinner on a Saturday night. They seated us at a table in a private area because we were a large party, which was nice. One of our party was a kid and had a hamburger. We ordered 3 sides for the 5 of us adults, which were delicious and ample. The wine was good and moderately priced. The steaks were delicious but we did have some question about the size of the steaks however. Steaks are sold by weight and the 10 oz ribeye one of us ordered looked more like a 6 oz filet, also the 32 oz porterhouse looked small for the weight. It was expensive, almost $500 for the evening including desserts all around and 2 appetizers for the table, so weights should be fair! We also think Pietro’s should consider adding a complementary baked potato with the steaks. How much would that cost them after all?

We had a Thanksgiving dinner at Pietro’s. The food was excellent, and so was the service. I ordered a lobster soup which was to die for, and we also ordered a turkey dinner, which was alright. The portions are huge.However, it sure is a little expensive… maybe I dont get a sense of value for money.

I went to Pietro’s for lunch on a cold day and had a fabulous burger! We were seated next to the fire, and the ambiance was fantastic. I am still talking about the burger, it may have been the best burger I have had in years. Lunch prices are comprable to any other place you may go for lunch and the food was better than any other lunch place I have been to in a long time. I am anxious to try it for dinner.

My wife and I had reservations on New Years eve for 9pm. We’d not been to Pietro’s before and it was packed. We arrived at 9 and our table was immediately available. Without going into a long review of our experience I’ll just say it was one of the best New Years we have in several years. The food was wonderful and the service perfect. We went to the bar after dinner for a drink and enjoyed a great band. The atmosphere is really great…cozy and inviting. We’ll definitely go back to Pietro’s….well done.
