Wayne Restaurant News & Updates
An interesting article in Main Line Suburban Life today reported a bevy of Wayne restaurant news & updates. To summarize:
- Taquet has been expanded and remodeled (specifically the bar/outdoor area), but nobody has yet to jump on the space. An ice-cream parlor almost closed the deal, but backed out at the last minute.
- No news on the White Dog Cafe, which is still “coming soon”
- Pop-Pop’s has closed in the former Wayne Beef & Ale location. No new plans have been established.
- Matador, the long-awaited Spanish/Mexican tapas joint, has been issued two stop-work issues and a citation for not getting permits for the work to the space, according to Radnor Township. As of last week alteration permits had been submitted but not issued yet by the township.
- Anthony’s Coal-Fired Pizza is still planned for the ACME shopping center.
- A Chipotle may appear in downtown Wayne “soon” (no further details were given).

I asked an employee at White Dog down by Drexel/Penn when the Wayne location would be opening and they said April (Asked about 2 months ago) so they don’t have too much time left to stick to that goal.

It looks like a whole lot of nothing is going on at the White Dog. The entire complex is a ghosttown, except for a kids store and a financial company.

Oh, and the Chipotle is going in at the former drug store, attached to the Wayne Acme. So, that makes two restaurants in that space: Chipotle and the already-announced coal fired pizza joint. There is an outdoor eating area planned, too. All of this comes from Acme employees who, during their smoke breaks, get the scoop from construction guys working next door. The Chipotle is bad news for Matador, I’d say.
